Marie-Claire

In the post below I attached a picture of some incredibly beautiful shoes with some pretty awesome hardware for the heel- and they were actually, much to my surprise, featured in Marie-Claire's April issue (in black). Kudos to magazines continuing to feature Alexander McQueen's amazing creations. In my mind, he will never die.

Crystal Renn

I just want to say how much I love Crystal Renn. This woman has defied what it means to be beautiful in so many people's eyes. I personally find her more beautiful at her fullest. She started modelling at the age of 14, and was told right away to lose almost one third of her total weight. That sparked an eating disorder which she, thankfully, resolved after realizing that she didn't like herself that way. After gaining 70 pounds, she came back to modelling as a plus size model, measuring in at a size 12. If you are one of the people who has seen or heard of her book Hungry, or if you've seen her lately in all the high fashion magazines, then surely you feel as excited as I do. Not only for her, but for women everywhere. She made history by becoming the first plus size model to be featured in SIX (count 'em) Vogue magazines and a much coveted Dolce & Gabbana ad. I watched an interview of her talking about her book, and she said something really interesting. She said something like, she thought her dream could never come true if she didn't drop the pounds like her agent advised her to, yet at the time when she was super thin she rarely had work. After she re-emerged as a plus size model, she started landing work with magazines such as Vogue and has travelled the world. She is also signed with Ford. She has accomplished all this at the young age of 23. And the only way to accomplish it, truly and as cheesy as this sounds, was by being herself.

trend: tattoos on your clothes

I'm a big fan of tatoos. On your skin. Not so much on clothing. I've hated Ed Hardy with a passion ever since I first saw their logo with the heart covered in a banner. To begin with, those tattoos are cheesy. There's a reason why when you step into any tattoo parlor that tattoo is in the books, ready to be chosen. It's lame. And I think it's actually somehow way lamer on a t-shirt. The japanese tigers, the skulls, the lame-o roses... I don't know. I can't like this trend.
